Lalith Atulathmudali Vocational Training Center was established to commemorate late Hon. Minister Lalith Atulathmudali. When the honorable Minister initiated the “Mahapola Higher Education Project” he had in mind to establish a “Mahapola Computer Training Centre” in parallel to the above project. But during his lifetime it could not be achieved.
Computer engineering & Graphic art division has been formed in May 2010..Mr.M.N.P.Aponsu is the first Head Of the Division (HOD) it. Currently all the Graphic designing, Computer Engineering and Network Engineering and CISCO Academy are running under this division. This is the only division who has reached the quality of the service up to national and international standards which was the dream of the founder late minister Athulathmudali. All the vocational courses are conducting by well trained, energetic, innovative and friendly academic staffs who are actively engaged to the industry.
Hon.late Lalith Athulathmudali is considered as one of the few distinguished Sri Lankan statesmen of his time. He is still remembered by many in Sri Lanka as a gentleman and as one of the few well educated politicians of that era. In his honor a staue and memorial has been erected in Colombo. His contribution to the education of the country is eminence; the Mahapola Fund he established has greatly contributed to the development of higher education and provides scholarships for needy students annually. The Lalith Athulathmudali Vocational Training Center was formed to commemorate his contribution to education development in Sri Lanka.
Mr. Keseralal Gunasekera who was elected as a member of the parliament at a later stage,going behind the foot steps of Mr. Lalith Atulathmudali dedicated himself to bring in to reality the aspiration of Late Mr. Lalith Athulathmudali.
At the moment Mr.Gunasekara is delivering his contribution to the country as the opposition leader of Dehiwala- Mt.Lavinia municipal council. “Mr. Kesarralal Gunasekera, an Accountant by profession, is presently the Director, Network Securities Ltd. , the Director, National Wealth Corporation and a Member, Mahapola Trust Fund. He was formerly the Chairman National Lotteries Board, Chairman, Associate Newspapers of Ceylon Ltd. , Chairman , Ceylon Port Service and the Director, Sri Lanka Port Management & Consultancy Services Ltd.Mr. Gunasekera was also the Managing Director, Ceylon Shipping Lines ltd., Managing Director, Sri Lanka Libya Agricultural & Livestock Development Company Ltd. and a Member, Central Cultural Fund.
